Thankful Thursdays

December 10 - Adopt a Family at The Opportunity House

The Opportunity House,, based in Reading, PA, improves the quality of life for children, adults and families, including homeless, formerly homeless and low-income families and individuals, with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency. Our outreach efforts will be focused on supporting families who are currently living in the Opportunity House’s Shelter, which is open twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, and provides emergency housing, three meals per day, and laundry facilities for up to 65 men and 44 women and children.

What They Need:  ABSA has “adopted” 10 families who are currently living in the Opportunity House shelter.  Between now and December 4, 2015, , we will be collecting specific items that those families need to grant their wish lists through an Angel Tree  that will be on display in our office in Reading, before the holidays.  We would like to be able to donate gifts to more families and single men and women this worthy organzation helps each day. If you are interested in adopting a family or a single man or woman on your own, please let us know by Monday, November 23, 2015, and we will coordinate a match. This is a wonderful and rewarding way to give back during the holiday season in a very personal way, and we would love your help!

To Participate:  Please contact Linda Carlson,, on or before November 23, 2015,  if you would like to adopt a family or individual for the holiday season.  Wrapped gift donations will be accepted through December 4th.
